The Event
Silent Auction is HMA's largest, most premiere fundraiser. We invite those who are invested in HMA: Virginia Tech staff, alumni, Advisory Board members, parents of HMA members, and those who donate to our association. Through networking with alumni, generous hospitality firms, local businesses and personal connections, guests and online bidders are provided with a variety of items to bid on. These items will range from restaurant gift certificates & weekend stays at various hotels to gift baskets & rounds of golf.
The Preparation
Months before the event, our Director of Special Events, Nikki Strictland, coordinates and reserves our event location. After touring the venue, a theme is decided on, this year it will be "Under the Sea". Once a theme is set, the creation of invitations, decorations, and menu planning become HMA's priority. Officers and members work together to in all aspects in planning this event. During the week leading up to the event, members will organize the decorations and food while preparing for the event. Silent Auction gives our members experience in event planning, networking, teamwork, and the food & beverage industry.
